FSX Information
Flight Simulator X may not be the world's first flight simulation, but it is, without doubt, the greatest. Flight Simulator X, or "FSX" as it is affectionately known, was released in 2006, and has become the benchmark flight simulation title. Offering players an awe inspiring selection of aircraft, from that old civilian favourite, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk SP, to the high tech likes of the enourmous Boeing 747-400 - the original "jumbo jet". FSX puts the player in full control of any of 21 aircraft, giving them the oppurtunity to experience the thrill of flying. FSX caters for everyone's tastes, sporting classic floatplanes, agile stunt planes, and even super smooth gliders, all faithfully reproduced. There are many ways to play FSX, including the "free flight" mode, where the player can select the aircraft of their choice, one of any of over 24,000 airports worldwide, and even set the time, date and weather parameters to see the world the way they want to. "Missions" are another exciting aspect of FSX, giving the player the chance to experience the adrenaline rush of putting on an airshow, performing a rescue mission in the infamous Bermuda Triangle, or safely landing an airliner while trying to keep one step ahead of an approaching typhoon. FSX also gives players access to a feature packed and easy to use "learning centre". Here, all manner of things can be discovered, from the statistics of each of the aircraft featured in FSX, to how planes actually fly. The "learning centre" also allows players to find out more about how Flight Simulator actually works, meaning that the player really can get the very best out of FSX. Flight Simulator X is at the very forefront of the fast moving world of PC simulation, and it features unrivalled physics, detail and realism. Flight Simulator X really is a must for fans of aviation, and, believe it or not, it can actually prove a valuable resource for education.
